The MLC Brown Sugar is a dynamic overdrive equipped with a four-position overdrive type switch to achieve different harmonic varieties of sound. Together with an audiophile-grade preamp - OPA2134 on the overdrive stage, it's great for crunch rhythm and a nice, thick blues solo lead. The sound is very similar to an overdriven vintage-style tube amp.
The input of this unit is a widely acclaimed High Impedance, Unity Gain, Class A buffer preamp with excellent RFI rejection capability (to eliminate radio station waveform interference) and a low impedance audio output, which allows for seamless use of long cables on the amplifier-feedback-guitar line.
Impedance mismatch problems in the electrical circuit between the pickups and this effect have been completely eliminated thanks to our Class A preamplifier. Even if the effect is in the OFF position, the input impedance is identical to that of a high-quality tube amplifier.
